Malawi: Ethiopian Set to Start Flights to Blantyre

Ethiopian announced last week that it will commence three weekly flights to Blantyre, the commercial and industrial capital of Malawi starting from March 31, 2013. Blantyre will be Ethiopian's 44th destination in Africa and the second in Malawi next to Lilongwe.

Ethiopian Airlines as a flagship carrier of Africa is pleased to add Blantyre to its wide route network and offer passengers to and from the city the best possible connectivity through its Addis Abeba hub, said Tewolde Gebremariam, CEO of the company.

Passengers to and from Blantyre will enjoy free connections to destinations in the Ethiopian route network such as London, Hong Kong, Dubai, Washington D.C and Toronto, according to the press release sent from the company.

A member of Star Alliance network, which is a leading global airline network, Ethiopian Airlines made its first international flight to Cairo in 1946. Currently, the airline provides services to 70 international destinations spanning four continents.
