Kenya: Swahili RnB Album in the Making

Producer Wawesh is working on a Swahili RnB Album that will feature the best of Kenyan artistes and voices.Titled, Mahaba - Swahili for romance - the album is said to feature Wyre the Love Child, Stan, French Boy, Binti and Mimmoh.

"There are many Kenyans who have grown up listening to Jodeci and R Kelly but have never (heard RnB music) told in our own language. No one has dared do it and I'm excited about it," Wawesh told Word Is, "The album will have romantic Swahili tales told by an interesting collection of big unexpected names and new artistes as well."

Produced under the Department, a new label, the 12-track album is half way done. About the release dates, Wawesh said, "I'm being realistic about it is going to happen mid this year."
