Rwanda: Malawi Delegation Arrives for Governance Tour

A delegation of Malawian leaders are in the country for a three-day visit to learn about governance and social development systems.

Meeting the Minister of Local Government, James Musoni, the Malawian Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Grace Maseko, appreciated Rwanda's governance, decentralisation and social protection programmes, saying they were worth adopting.

"We have been copying from Europe, but now it is time to learn from Africa. We have to learn about policies and how they are implemented," Maseko said.

She said Malawi wants to know how people are involved in governance, planning and budgeting. The visit also seeks to assess the country's use of e-governance in service delivery.

Minister Musoni said such visits present opportunities to learn from each other.
