Zimbabwe: MDC Truck Stolen

press release

The MDC Party truck for Matebeleland South Province was stolen today at 2am by unidentified people suspected to be ZANU PF members while parked at the party's provincial offices in Gwanda.

The MDC NISSAN ATLAS Truck 1,5 tonne registration number ACI 1642 emblazoned MDC Matabeleland South Province is used for party activities in the province and parked at the party offices overnight.

Mr Washy Ncube the MDC Provincial Chairperson said the vehicle is suspected to have been stolen by ZANU PF functionaries who are bent on destabilizing the party activities in the province ahead of elections penciled for this year.

Prior to the vehicle theft, the MDC Matabeleland South province lost 4 bicycles and computers after suspected ZANU PF members targeted the office. No arrests have since been made.

"This is a targeted plot planned and executed by ZANU PF thugs who intend to distabilise the party as the province has been making significant inroads in ZANU PF strongholds in the area," Mr Sibanda said.

A report has since been made at Gwanda police station and investigations are in progress.
