The FCT Police Command on Friday, arraigned a commercial motorcyclist, Zayyanu Ahmed, 20, of Area 1, at the Wuse Zone 6 Magistrates' Court, Abuja for alleged misappropriation of a motorcycle.
Prosecutor, Cpl. Musa Abdullahi, told the court that Musa Ibrahim reported the matter at Utako Police Station on January 21, 2013.
Abdullahi said that on October 20, 2012, Ibrahim of Army Barracks, Kuje entrusted his Bajaj motorcycle to Ahmed on hire purchase.
"Ahmed was to pay N150,000 but by installment. But on January 20, he alleged without satisfactory evidence that the motorcycle was stolen," he said.
He also told the court that the accused had only paid N30,000 before the reported theft of the motorcycle.
He said that the offence contravened Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charges. Magistrate Musa Jobbo granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100,000 and a surety in like sum.
He said that the surety must have a fixed address within the jurisdiction of the court.
The magistrate however adjourned the case to Feb. 7 for further hearing.
In another court, two men were last Wednesday arraigned for alleged conspiracy, house-breaking and stealing.
Those arraigned by the police were Nasiru Saidu, 25, and Abdukarim Mohammed, 22, all of Mpape Village in the FCT.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Onaji Joseph, told the court that on January 9, one Ishola Kolawale of Bakasi area of Mpape, reported the matter at Mpape Police Station.
Joseph said that on December 23, 2012, Kolawale alleged that Saidu and Mohammed conspired and broke into his house and stole a freezer, generator set, one 14-inch Samsung television and two toilet sitters all valued at N150,000.
The prosecutor told the court that the offence contravened Sections 79, 347 and 288 of the Penal Code.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty and Magistrate Hauwa Aliyu declined them bail.
The case was adjourned o January 30 for hearing.
