Jalingo — Trade Union Congress of Nigeria has urged the Taraba state government to improve the welfare of its workers, especially senior staff, by assisting them with interest free loans, enhanced pay package and a generous housing loan.
President General of TUC Comrade Peter Esele who made this known at the Third Triennial Delegates Conference of Taraba State Council of TUC in Jalingo at the weekend said Taraba state workers need improved welfare for optimal performance.
Represented at the election of the state council officials by Comrade Musa Toly, the president general said senior staff of other states of the federation have already benefited from interest free car loans and urged Taraba state to expedite action on the issue.
He also appealed to the state government to assist the state council of TUC with a secretariat and vehicles, while promising to support efforts by government to maintain cordial industrial relations with organised labour.
Our correspondent reports that Comrade Aminatu M. Ibrahim emerged as state Chairman of TUC, Comrade Tukur Abubakar Taji as Secretary, Comrade Umar Mohammed as Financial Secretary and Comrade Anyebe Ochechi Augustine as Treasurer.
Other elected officials were Comrade Victor Olatunde, Vice Chairman, Comrade Jonah Magaji, Auditor, Comrade Sule Abasu, PRO, Comrade Abochol Solomon Ter, Assistant Secretary 1, Comrade Mohammed Abubakar Assistant Secretary II, Comrade Muhammed Danjuma, Ex-Officio and Comrade Joan Adamu Biyams, Women Leader
