The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority says it will intensify efforts to eliminate bogus clearing agents to curb smuggling of goods and drugs into the country. Zimra Commissioner General Mr Gershem Pasi said bogus clearing agents were tarnishing the image of the revenue authority.
"We're concerned about the proliferation of bogus clearing agents and were presently dealing with several cases that have been reported of clients who have been ripped off," said Mr Pasi.
He said some corrupt Zimra officers were also conniving with bogus clearing agents to facilitate smuggling of goods into the country.
Mr Pasi's sentiments come in the wake of the arrest of a Malawian truck driver in Harare a fort- night ago who was carrying 3 700kg of marijuana stuffed in 41 bags.
