Gambia: Two World Leaders Felicitate President Jammeh

Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed VI, the King of Morocco and Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates- Ruler of Dubai, have written to the president of the Republic, His Excellency, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, congratulating him on the New Year.

The messages read:

On the occasion of the New Year 2013, it gives me great pleasure to extend to Your Excellency my warmest congratulations. Hoping the Almighty God to restore this occasion to you with whole health and happiness as well as prosperity to the brotherly people of your country and glory and greatness for our Ummah.

On the occasion of the New Year, it gives me great pleasure to extend my best wishes for good health and happiness to you and your esteemed family. I also wish your people further progress and prosperity.

The advent of the New Year provides an opportunity to ponder, with confidence and optimism, on the sweeping changes that have characterized the year 2012, as well as on the crucial development, security and environmental changes facing our planet, and which have had both positive and negative repercussions on people's lives and on global relations.

I hope the New Year will provide further prospects to fulfill the legitimate aspirations of mankind, particularly with respect to the dawn of a more balanced, equitable and solidarity-based world; a world where human beings are held in great respect, and where security, peace, justice, tolerance and inter-faith, intercultural co-existence prevail.
