The opposition UPND has dared police to arrest its leaders during a political rally scheduled for Kabwata this Sunday despite police refusal to give them a permit.

Meanwhile, home affairs minister Edgar Lungu this morning scheduled to address the UPND police defiance at a press briefing.

Party deputy spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa said on Friday that his party has satisfied all necessary legal requirements to hold the public rally and that they will not be held back by the police.

Mweetwa said government misdirected itself when it stated that they need to discuss on the possibility of a political meeting because there were no such provisions in the constitution.

He challenged Lungu to cite any law that requires people to negotiate with police to enjoy their fundamental freedoms.

Police have declined permission for UPND to hold a rally but the opposition party's defiance has sent government in panic mode.
