Kenya: Five-Minute Interview - Challenges Motivate Me to Work Harder

I am good at......empowering women and socialising.

I am bad at......lying. I don't like cheating but I always dwell on the truth.

A common misconception of me is......people think from I am from a rich background but in real sense I grew up in a humble background.

The last book I enjoyed reading was....Becoming a better You by Joel Osteen. It's a very motivating book.

My ideal night out is....having dinner with my family and just laughing all night through.

The most surprising thing that happened to me was.........when my best friends turned against me when I was vying for the chairmanship of the football Kenya Federation last year. Most of them talked ill of me instead of supporting me. It still pains me to date.

My greatest regret is......I don't regret because the worst experience I have gone through has motivated and taken me to a higher level.

My greatest achievement is.....being the first woman to contest for the Kenya's top football management seat and expanding SOLASA Sports to Western Kenya.

My greatest possession is.....My children. They mean the world to me.

If I was a politician I would.........use my political influence to empower the society and make sure that resources are distributed equally.

In moments of weakness....I pray to God to guide me through the hard times.

The best age to be is.....35 . This is when when you've reached maturity and able to make sober decisions.

My favorite writer is.....Joel Osteen. He has written several books which have encouraged me.

If I was to die in five minutes, my last words would be.... 'Thank you God for the life that you have given me. I surrender my children to you."

Elizabeth Shako is the director SOLASA Sports Kenya. SOLASA organization empowers women and girls through equiping them with livelihood skills. It also assists women in launching projects such as businesses as well as organising football tournaments as a way of nurturing girls' football talent.
