KENYA shooting guard Hilda Indasi was voted the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the FIBA Africa Nations Cup Zone Five qualifiers which ended at the Dar-es-Salaam indoor courts in Tanzania.
Indasi, who was also named the MVP during the national play-off finals where her club United States International University (USIU) "Flames" lost 2-0 to eventual winners Eagle Wings superbly led national team and the entire championships in scoring through out the six-day event. She poured in a total of 121 points for Kenya out of the 379 points, which the team scored.
Angela Okoth, Shilalei Shani and Brenda Angeshi were the other three players who supplemented Indasi scoring efforts as the team booked their ticket to the Africa Championships in Maputo, Mozambique in September.
Indasi hit 15 in a 74-32 win over Tanzania, nailed 26 against Burundi in an 86-44 win, was all fire against Rwanda, sinking a tournament high 32 as Kenya rampaged to a 72-49 victory, had 19 in a close 70-64 fight against Egypt and was the toast in a 77-57 triumph over Uganda in the last tie.
