Uganda: Trading Volumes Decline On Tuesday's Close

The Uganda Securities Exchange (USE) trading volumes which were recorded high at the end of yesterday's trading declined on Tuesday, with most counters recording offers.

According to the official figures released by the USE today, the market traded 1, 059, 368 shares recording over sh35mn in turnover compared to yesterday (Jan. 28)when the market traded over 20mn shares, recording sh6bn in turnover.

Stanbic bank's counter recorded the highest volumes of traded shares 1, 035, 520 and sh20mn in turnover at a flat price of sh25. Baroda's counter came second with 19, 648 shares traded and sh5.5mn recorded as turnover at sh280 per share. DFCU traded 4, 200 shares at sh1, 000 each share, recording sh4.2mn in turnover.

Umeme's usual busy counter only recorded offers (6, 861,300) and bids (1, 016,223). Other counters like NIC, NVL and CENT posted offers. Baroda posted 51, 675 as bids and 67, 652 as offers.

Official trading resumes on Jan. 31.
