KWS warders have arrested an accomplice of a suspected poacher killed in Tsavo at the weekend.

The assistant director in-charge of Tsavo, Wilson Korir, said the suspect was arrested at Maungu town on Sunday night while three more are in hiding.

"We are interrogating the suspect although we cannot reveal his identity. We are very sure he was among the gang that was on a poaching mission at Tsavo,"he said.

KWS Director William Kiprono who visited the scene on Saturday warned poaching syndicates that the government has put security agencies on alert.

Kiprono said poachers disguise themselves as herders in Taita ranches.

He urged owners of private ranches in Taita Taveta bordering the Tsavo Park to vet all herders and report suspected criminals to the police.
