Sudan: Central Darfur - Abbala Kills Man, Police Says 'Not Their Concern'

Mirsu Valley — Abbala militants killed a man and injured his brother on Monday by the Mirsu valley in Bindissey locality, Central Darfur.

Sources informed the police and security services about the incident, but they asserted this was "not their concern".

Mohamed Hamad and his brother were grazing their cattle by the Mirsu valley when Abbala tribesmen attacked them, onlookers told Radio Dabanga.

Hamad was shot dead on the spot and his brother was transferred to a For Baranga hospital for treatment, sources said, adding the gunmen stole the cows of the brothers.

Residents of the area said the Abbala militia has been terrorizing them and looting their villages for a few weeks.

In order to escape the "fear and oppression" incited by the militia, large numbers of citizens have already fled to nearby Chad.
