The price of digital television decoders is still beyond the reach of many consumers even as the country prepares for analogue TV switch after the general elections. Some vendors are selling the free-to-air decoders for as high as 7,000 shillings despite a tax exemption and increased outlets. A spot check on the cost of the approved set - top boxes showed the lowest priced box goes for 5,300 shillings while others cost 7,000 shillings.
