Zimbabwe: Nyabinde's Saxophonist Dies

Bonafat Scott Mhlanga, a member of Bob Nyabinde's group, has died. He was 72. Mhlanga died at Kwekwe Hospital on Sunday after a long illness. Popularly known as Mdara Scott, Mhlanga was an accomplished saxophonist and trumpeter. Mdara Scott was a vital member of Nyabinde's Savanna

Drive having spent seven years with the group.

"He joined us in 2005 and he was committed to his work. Imagine at his age he was still energetic and we would tour the country together," "The Headmaster said.

He described Mhlanga's death as devastating.

"The void he has left is irreplaceable. We cannot find anyone who will match his skills on saxophone," he said.

To those who frequent Nyabinde's shows, Mdara Scott will be remembered for his Midas touch on the saxophone instrument.

Mhlanga was buried yesterday in Rutendo, Redcliff.
