SQUABBLES in the MDC-T Matabeleland North province have heightened after the party's leadership overturned the province's decision to suspend its two executive members. Sources within the party told The Herald yesterday that provincial chairman Mr Sengezo Tshabangu threatened to quit during a provincial executive meeting held in Hwange on Friday last week.
His threat to quit was reportedly sparked by a letter written by the party's national organising secretary Mr Nelson Chamisa lifting a suspension imposed by Mr Tshabangu on provincial organising secretary Mr Thembinkosi Sibindi and deputy provincial secretary Ms Angeline Keswa. Mr Tshabangu suspended the pair late last year on charges that included insubordination.
Mr Tshabangu yesterday confirmed the provincial executive met on Friday in Hwange but refused to talk about his threat to resign and the party's decision to lift the duo's suspension.
