Chinhoyi Bureau — CHIEF Nematombo has warned Zanu-PF against the imposition of candidates to represent the party in the forthcoming elections, saying the act cost the party dearly in the 2008 harmonised elections.
Speaking at the hand-over of seed maize and blankets at his homestead which was destroyed in a suspected politically motivated attack, the chief said interference in local political systems and choices exposed the party.
"Most people did not vote last time (2008 harmonised elections) because a candidate was imposed on the people and they decided to stay at home with their vote which cost the party dearly," he said.
Zanu-PF lost Hurungwe West constituency in the area to the MDC-T candidate Severino Chambati. He beat Zanu-PF's Mary Stella Boni.
Mashonaland West governor and resident minister Cde Faber Chidarikire handed over two tonnes of the seed maize.
