Angola: Akz 10,000 Bill Only Released If Strictly Necessary

Luanda — The Akz 10,000 bank notes of the new serial numbers of the Angolan currency will not be released into the market, unless the conditions of the country's economy so demand.

This was said Tuesday in Luanda by the vice governor of the Angola Reserve Bank (BNA), António André Lopes.

The official said that although the BNA is legally authorised to issue new Akz 10,000 bills, it will only do it should the conditions of the economy so demand.

He added that, currently there are no plans for introduction of the Akz 10,000 bill, as the current level of development and the present means of payment ensure the maintenance of the "new serial" ones as they were presented, ranging from the 50 cent metallic coin up to the Akz 5,000.

The Angola Reserve Bank officially released Tuesday the new Akz bank notes in the designations of 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000, 2000 and 5000 and metallic coins from 50 cents to Akz 1.00, 5.00 and 10.00.
