Namibia: Alleged Girlfriend Killer Denied Bail

Windhoek — The Grootfontein Magistrate's Court has denied bail to the man accused of murdering his girlfriend in the early morning hours of last Sunday.

The accused is 29-year-old Richard Witbooi, a soldier in the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) based at Grootfontein. Witbooi appeared in court on Monday.

It is alleged that Witbooi stabbed his girlfriend Roseline Laurika Aukhumes (30) with a bread knife. Aukhumes died instantly, according to Otjiwarongo Police Regional Crime Co-ordinator, Deputy Commissioner Moses Khairabeb. The matter was remanded to March 8.
