Nigeria: Presidential Pilgrimage Committee Wants Basa With Israel

Chairman of the Presidential Committee on 2012 Pilgrimage, Most Reverend Nicholas Okoh, yesterday urged the Federal Government to sign a Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) with Israel to relieve difficulties encountered during pilgrimage exercises.

Okoh made the call when the committee presented its report for 2012 pilgrimage exercise to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim.

Okoh, who was accompanied by the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Mr. John Kennedy Opara, said 16, 000 Nigerians participated in last year's exercise in two shifts with no one absconding.

Okoh is the Primate Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion.

Anyim thanked the committee for its work and stated that President Goodluck Jonathan had already instructed the aviation ministry to look into the matter.
