Ex-accountant of the Police Pensions Fund, Mr. John Yakubu Yusuf, was Wednesday morning remanded in prison custody till March 4 when his case would be heard again, following fresh charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Justice Abubakar Talba of an Abuja High Court had on Monday sentenced Yusuf to two years imprisonment with an option of N750,000 fine after he pleaded guilty to three-count charges of criminal misappropriation leveled against him by the EFCC.

Yusuf was re-arrested on Tuesday by the EFCC and charged with a new 4-count charge bordering on false declaration of assets.

In the earlier case in which he plea-bargained to get the two-year sentence, he had been arraigned alongside six other civil servants charged with alleged misappropriation of N32.8 billion Police Pension fund.

The judge had also ruled that he was to forfeit the sum of N325 million and 30 choice properties scattered in Abuja and Gombe.
