Washington and Jerfferson College in USA Thursday donated educational materials to the Tendaba Nursery and Lower Basic Schools in Kiang Central in Lower River Region.
The items included stationery, shoes and a cash amount of $400, among others.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Musa Drammeh, the coordinator, commended Professor Buba Misawa of Washington and Jefferson College, Abdullah Salem David White and Doug of Run, an organisation in Tendaba and Western Pennsylvania Foundation, for their contribution and support towards education in Tendaba and The Gambia at large.
Mamadi Nyabally, deputising for the school headmaster, expressed delight and gratitude to the donors for the gesture. He also thanked the benefactor and Musa Drammeh for contributing immensely to the welfare of the village.
Speaking earlier, Faye Jammeh also thanked the donors for the gesture, adding that it came at the right time. He further stated that many of the students come to school without good shoes.
He added that the donated items are meant to enhance relevant and quality education in The Gambia as enshrined in the country's Vision 2020.
