In commemoration of The Gambia Experience's 25th Anniversary this year, the management of the specialist UK tour operator has donated funds and flights to their UK and Gambian-originating charitable and sustainable projects in The Gambia.
The Gambia Experience is a member of the UK organisation, AITO, that aims to provide customer satisfaction by concentrating on three main pillars -choice, quality and service.
Speaking to journalists at a press conference organised by The Gambia Experience in collaboration with the Gambia Tourism Board, Chris Rowles, the managing director of Gambia Experience, said that in this winter season 2012/2013, The Gambia Experience has been providing services to holiday makers to The Gambia for 25 years and it is proud to remain the UK holiday specialist to destination Gambia.
He further stated that they wanted to do something special to mark this year's anniversary and support those projects which share their appreciation of The Gambia, 'Africa's Smiling Coast'.
Rowles revealed that the complimentary flight seats donation totalling £25,000 were selected at random during two draws that took place in October 2012 and 14 January 2013.
For his part, Dick Sisman, the sustainable tourism advisor, revealed that The Gambia Experience received about 60 applications for the funds. He said that the diversity of good works being undertaken by organisations and charities in The Gambia is impressive.
He said they would like to support all of the project proposals, but had to make a choice that was representative of all aspects of life in The Gambia.
