Kenya: Eveready Biggest Gainer At the NSE

The Nairobi All Share Index eased 0.31 points to close at 102.64. It has corrected 3.261% off a 5+ year high reached on the 16th of this Month.

The Nairobi NSE20 Index eased 0.64 points to close at 4402.75 and has corrected 151 points and 3.316% since closing at a 24 month high on 16th January.

The Equity Indices have been correcting since the 16th of January but in an orderly manner. The shilling traded a low just under 88.00 and remains soft.

Safaricom eased 1.85% to close at 5.30 and traded 10.536m shares. Safaricom is +4.95% in 2013 but has corrected 11.666% off an August 2010 intra day high off 6.00 struck on the 9th of January.

The drawdown looks over extended and purely a momentum move. Nation Media rallied 1.59% to close at 255.00 and traded 43,900 shares. Nation Media is +15.384% in 2013 and 3.409% below its all time closing high of 264.00 from the 16th of this month.

Kenya Airways closed unchanged at 10.85 and traded 49,600 shares. Kenya Airways released passenger numbers for October through December 2012 on Monday.

The total passenger tally, which closed at 991,149, indicates a growth of 3.6% compared to similar period last year. The resultant cabin factor at 69.7% was lower than prior year's 71.7%.

Kenya Commercial Bank closed unchanged at 33.50 and traded 1.282m shares. Kenya Commercial Bank is +12.605% in 2013 and 2.898% off its All Time Record Closing High from the 16th of January this Year. Equity Bank closed unchanged at 26.25 and traded 1.207m shares.

Equity Bank is +10.526% in 2013. COOP Bank firmed 1.176% to close at 12.90 and traded 705,000 shares. Diamond Trust Bank firmed 1.612% to close at 126.00 and traded 18,900 shares. Standard Chartered traded 36,300 shares and closed unchanged at 259.00.

Centum rallied a further 1.14% to close at 13.30 and traded 586,500 shares. Centum has rallied 3.10077% over 2 Sessions and since the release of the notice about the purchase of 45% of the Micro financier PlatCorp Holdings.

KenGen rallied 2.46% to close at 12.20 and traded 287,600 shares. KenGen is 11.272% below its 2013 closing high of 13.75 from the 16th of this month. Kenya Power ticked 0.869% higher to close at 17.40 and traded 66,600 shares.

EABL closed unchanged at 299.00 and traded 281,200 shares. Eveready was the biggest gainer at the Nairobi Securities Exchange yesterday.

Eveready rallied 5.13% to close at 2.05 on 19,300 shares traded. Eveready is unchanged in 2013 but has rallied 10.81% over the last 4 Sessions.
