Kenya: Uchumi Picks Jambopay for E-Commerce Trade

UCHUMI Supermarket has selected JamboPay for its e-commerce platform. This follows the conclusion of a competitive selection process for e-payments services provider for the retail chain.

JamboPay beat seven other electronics payments service providers who had tendered for the service. JamboPay will provide online payment gateway services for the e-commerce service which is to be launched soon via the Uchumi website.

A statement said the company will provide aggregated e-payments service that will include mobile payments, debit and credit cards. The move to e-commerce is expected to position Uchumi ahead of its competitors in emerging internet market segment, a statement from JamboPay said. Uchumi is one of the largest supermarket chains in Kenya with a network of 20 outlets across East Africa.
