Kenya: Best Pals Lead Makueni Kcpe List

Vitale HGM Boarding School at Kathonzweni in Makueni on Monday afternoon celebrated the performance of the county's two top KCPE candidates.

Sarah Kaasya Mueni routinely competed with her best friend, Valentine Mwende Ndunda, whom she beat. Mueni scored 419 marks and Mwende 417.

"I am extremely happy even though my victory does not come as a surprise because I expected to be the country's top candidate," Mueni told the Star.

"These girls are good friends and their performance has made the school proud," said headteacher David Muthike. Mueni wants to join Alliance Girls High School and hopes to become a lawyer while Mwende aspires to be a doctor. Some 162 Vitale HGM candidates sat last years KCPE and scored a mean of 352.11.
