Kenya: Politicians Told to Keep Off Land

THE Land Development and Governance Institute has asked politicians to steer off issues of land in their campaigns. Director Mwenda Makathimo said the land commission will address issues of land.

"Debating such issues recklessly will not address the land question in the country but may result in renewed chaos as witnessed in 2007," he said.

Makathimo was speaking in Eldoret during a public forum on land, peace and elections under the initiative dubbed Ardhi na Amani Kenya.

The institutes' chairman Ibrahim Mwathane said land is a senstitive topic especially at the Rift Valley and Coast provinces so politicians should be cautios when debating about it on public forums.
