Sudan: Armed Group Abducts and Kills Displaced At North Darfur Camp

Kassab Camp — An armed group killed a displaced man living at Kassab camp in Kutum locality, North Darfur on Tuesday. The victim was abducted inside his own house.

Kassab's sheikh Taher Ismail told Radio Dabanga a group of unidentified gunmen entered the home of the displaced Mohamed Idris Younis, 26 years old, in Amo neighborhood and snatched him at gunpoint.

The young man was dragged to the southern direction of the camp and was killed with a bullet to his head and another to his waste, the sheikh recounted, adding the gunmen fled.

The camp's population buried the body of Idris on Wednesday, after submitting it to forensic examinations.

According to Ismail, Kassab residents informed authorities about the incident and demanded that they and UNAMID protect the camp's displaced, arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The motive of the attack is not yet clear.
