South African President Jacob Zuma on Tuesday (January 29th) welcomed the new Somali ambassador to South Africa, pledging his government's support for Somali development.
"Our minister of international relations and co-operation pledged 100 million rand ($11 million) towards projects that could support the post-conflict reconstruction and development of Somalia," Zuma said, according to the South African Broadcasting Corporation.
"Two of the projects have recently been approved and we are hoping to deploy a team to Mogadishu to ensure that they begin as soon as possible."
