Uganda: Counters Seen Busy, Umeme Leads

Trading at the Uganda Securities exchange (USE) resumed on Jan. 31 with Umeme dominating the activity, posting the biggest number of traded shares.

The power distributor traded over seven million shares, recording over sh2.1bn in turnover at sh300 per share. DFCU raised sh5mn in turnover after trading 5, 000 shares at sh1, 000 each.

Stanbic bank traded 845, 150 shares at sh 25 each, recording sh21mn in turnover while Uganda Clays traded 2, 760 shares with just sh82, 800 in turnover.

Baroda's counter traded 2, 000 shares at sh280 each, recording sh560, 000 in turnover.

The market raised total turnover of over sh2.2bn after trading over eight million shares. The week's trading ends tomorrow, Jan. 1.
