Kenya: North Rift Women Leaders Back Raila

Women representatives from six counties in North Rift have launched a lobby group to rally support for Prime Minister Raila Odinga's bid for the President seat on Cord ticket.

'Wamama na Raila' draws its membership from Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Trans-Nzoia and Nandi counties.It has resolved to mobilize more than 1 million womenfolk in the region to vote for the Cord Presidential flag bearer.

Led by its coordinator Margaret Jepkoech, the group has reiterated its commitment to campaign for the PM to enable him clinch the seat.

Jepkoech pointed out that they would conduct road shows in major towns of the counties before embarking on door to door campaign in rural parts of the counties.

She said that they would also use their rallies to preach peace among various communities

She further disclosed that plans were underway to host the PM's wife, Ida Odinga in the region and expressed optimism that Cord will win. Jepkoech advised local residents not be swayed by euphoria but vote in leaders based on their qualities and abilities.
