An employee of Kericho Water and Sanitation Company died on the spot after falling inside a manhole in Kericho town.

Kericho OCPD Clement Gatogo said Samuel Lang'at was trying to unblock a manhole at Majengo Housing estate when he slipped fell in head first and later died at Kericho District Hospital.

An official who works with KEWASCO and who declined to be named for fear of victimisation accused the company's technical management of failing to provide workers with helmets and other protective gadgets. "Lang'at would not have died if he was wearing a helmet," he said.
