Asmara — A total of 42 teachers from all corners of the country who have been attending training in the Arabic language by Sudanese resource persons have graduated.

The training that was conducted at Asmara Teachers Education Institute involved Arabic literature, methodology of teaching for preliminary students and fundamentals of pedagogy.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of Education, Mr. Semere Rusom, indicated that the training was organized in line with the agreement reached last year between the education ministries of Eritrea and the Republic of Sudan pertaining to mutual collaboration. He further called on the trainees to demonstrate commitment in their career.

Representing the Ministry of General Education of the Republic of Sudan, Mr. Tewfiq Mohammed Dahab pointed out that the accord entails the carrying out of such training, and disclosed that Arabic language text books for 4th and 5th graders are due to be delivered from his country within the coming 2 months.

"This is just the beginning of the collaboration between the two countries," said Dr. Yusuf Mohammed Fetaha, a resource person. Furthermore, he called on the beneficiaries of the training to translate the knowledge they have acquired into practice.

Mr. Petros Hailemariam, head of human resource development in the Eritrean Ministry of Education, expressed conviction that such accomplishment is a major step towards meeting the demand of Arabic teachers, and thereby attain the cherished goal to this end.
