Rwanda: Chinese Chen Eliminates Havugimana

Rwandan Oliver Havugimana's hopes of progressing to the quarter final of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) East African Junior Circuit ended on Wednesday.

Havugimana lost to Chinese Taipei born Hou-en Chen ranked 1741 in the world in the third round with a 6-7 [4] 1-6 victory at the Nairobi Club.

Havugimana, 14, was the only surviving Rwandan player in the competition following 14-year-old Ernest Habiyambere's exit in the second round.

The pair will have to wait for better fortunes in the second week of the ITF/East African Junior Circuit, which gets underway at the weekend.

Up to 34 countries are being represented at the Championships. They include Kenya, Russia, Sweden, South Africa, Italy, Britain, Poland, Egypt, USA, Belgium, India, Iran, Turkey, Belarus, Taipei, France, Croatia, Burundi, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda among others.
