Nigeria: PDP Expresses Happiness Over Imoke's Recovery

press release

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed happiness on the remarkable recovery of Cross River state Governor Liyel Imoke who has been out of the country for medical treatment.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh in a statement yesterday said the party received the news of the governor's recovery with great joy adding that he is expected back to his duties soon.

"We have just received news of the remarkable recovery of the Governor of Cross Rivers state, Governor Liyel Imoke and we are very happy. We expect that he will be back to his office very soon to continue the good works he has been doing in his state," he said.

Metuh commended the leadership of the party in Cross River, including the Acting Governor, party chairmen, Speaker of the Houses of Assembly, state caucus members, members of the National Assembly from the state as well as government appointees in the state for holding forth and ensuring smooth running of government affairs in the absence of the governor.

He said the fact that government activities have been going on smoothly in the state shows that that PDP government has direction and focus in line with the manifesto of the party to ensure the welfare of the people at all times.

The party also thanked the people of Cross Rivers state for their steadfastness in praying for the governor. It said the fact that the governor has recovered is an indication that God answers prayers.

It however urged the people to continue to be united and support the PDP administration in its efforts to ensure the stability, peace and progress of the state.
