Nigeria: Futo VC Raises Alarm Over Sale of Varsity Land

Owerri — Vice Chancellor Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Prof.Chigozie Asiabaka, yesterday raised alarm over the sale of the university land by youths of the host community.

Asiabaka, while addressing newsmen, lamented that the action of the youths is capable of destroying the relationship between the university community and its host community.

He lamented that the sale is usually conducted without certificate of occupancy. The vice chancellor said the management of FUTO has continually demonstrated love and commitment towards the host communities by way of donation of items to widows and traditional rulers in the communities.

He said the development does not only pose security risk to the university community, but also "constitute inestimable setback to the developmental of the university management.
