Zimbabwe: Zimrights Officer Denied Bail Again

Leo Chamahwinya, the ZimRights Education Programs Officer who has been in police custody since December 13th, was denied bail again on Thursday in the magistrates court.

Chamahwinya is facing charges of forgery, conspiracy to commit fraud and spreading falseholds prejudicial to the state. His director, Okay Machisa, who is facing the same charges, was released on bail Tuesday after spending 15 days in remand prison.

Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition director McDonald Lewanika tweeted that the presiding Magistrate dismissed Chamahwinya's bail application, saying further appeals need to be heard at the High Court.
