Nigeria: Accountant Kidnapped in Kaduna Village

Kaduna — Monday Bidam, an accountant with the Kaduna State Ministry of Agriculture attached to the ministry's veterinary section in Kafanchan has been reportedly kidnapped.

A family member said the kidnapers contacted Bidam's family and demanded N1.5 million before his release.

It was gathered that Bidam boarded the kidnapers' car on Tuesday while travelling from Kachia to Zuluruk-Kagoro in Kaura local government area of the state.

"He has been missing since Tuesday when he called from Kachia that he was on his way home. We have to report the matter to the police in Kafanchan in company of his aged parents and wife Mariamu Bidam," the family member, who said they have been warned not to disclose the incident, said.

He said the kidnapers are always in contact with Bidam's wife, Mariamu, demanding for N1.5 million before his release. "Where do we start from? Monday Bidam has seven children and all of them are in various schools. We need the intervention of the security agencies concerning this issue," he said.

Kaduna police spokesman, Aminu Lawan, said the family had not contacted them over the incident.
