Gambia: Appellants Want to Withdraw Appeal

Four appellants, Fabakary Barrow, Lamin Sanneh, Lamin Demba and Kajally Jawara, yesterday, 31st January, 2013, told the Gambia Court of Appeal that they intend to withdraw their notice of appeal they have filed before the said court.

The quartet made this disclosure during the court proceedings yesterday when their case came up for mention. The quartet were convicted and sentenced by the Magistrate Court on charges of theft and abuse of office. They (the quartet) indicated that their sole aim of coming to the court was to withdraw their notice of appeal, stating that they have almost completed their jail term.

Meanwhile, Justice M.M. Aghyemang who asked the appellants who their legal counsel was, pointed out that the court would wait for their legal counsel to make the proper application for the withdrawal of the said appeal.

The case was however adjourned to 7th February, 2013 for mention.
