Nigeria: AIT Begins Transmission in Bauchi

The Director of News, Africa Independent Television (AIT), Mr Adebayo Bodunri, said on Friday that the station had begun transmission in Bauchi.

Bodaunri said during a facility tour in Bauchi, that the station would provide 24-hour service to the people of the state, adding that local programmes in Housa and Fulfulde would be produced.

Bodunri said indigenes of the state were recruited and induction training had since begun for the take-off of the station.

"The only hindrance is the power supply, which is not stable."

The Chairman of the state House of Assembly Committee on Information, Dayibu Ciroma, said the establishement of the station in the state was a welcome development.

He said the state government's electronic media would be upgraded to conform with the directives of the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission. (NAN)
