Zambia: Magistrate Issues Bench Warrant Against Battered Woman

A KABWE magistrate's court has issued a bench warrant against a woman whose fingers were wounded after a soldier, who is her husband, allegedly attempted to chop off her hand in April last year.

Principal Resident Magistrate John Mbuzi issued the warrant for the arrest of Bertha Sakala.

Arresting officer Oswald Silungwe told the court that summons had on several occasions been delivered to Ms Sakala, who is the victim.
