Zambia: 2013 N'cwala Preps On Course

Preparations for this year's Nc'wala traditional ceremony of the Ngoni are on schedule.

The ceremony would take place on February 23, at Mtenguleni village in Chipata.

President Michael Sata has been invited to grace the ceremony together with his counterpart from South Africa, Jacob Zuma.

The South African President attended the traditional ceremony in February 2009 as a special guest during which time the Chipata Municipal Council conferred him with the Free Man of Chipata status.

Chief Madzimawe said in Chipata yesterday that the preparations for the ceremony were gaining momentum at the main arena and at Laweni at Mtenguleni.

The traditional leader said the local organising committee comprising heads of department and the royal establishment had been set up to look at the preparations.

He said the actual ceremony would start on February 20 and would end four days later.
