Zimbabwe: Biti, Chamisa Deny Feud

IN response to our story "Chamisa, Biti in bust up" last week, MDC-T secretary-general Tendai Biti and organising secretary Nelson Chamisa have denied clashing over the issue of primary elections during a standing committee meeting a fortnight ago.

Biti and Chamisa's lawyer, Harrison Nkomo, confirmed the party had a standing committee meeting on January 16 saying:

There was a standing committee meeting on that particular day;

The meeting debated extensively on issues contained in the current draft constitution;

The meeting progressed smoothly save for the intellectual engagement amongst members of the committee in a very democratic manner; and

The MDC unanimously agreed on candidate selection criteria and procedure on December 20 2012.
