Kenya: Chepkoilel College to Get Charter On February 11

Chepkoilel University College in Eldoret is set to receive its charter. President Kibaki will on February 11 award the charter to the institution, making it the second public university in Eldoret after Moi University.

"We are preparing for the ceremony to receive the charter after which we will roll out all our programmes as a full university," Elijah Biamah, the college's principal, said yesterday. Chepkoilel was a constituent college of Moi University until it was made autonomous two years ago.

Higher Education minister Margaret Kamar had indicated that two institutions of higher learning in Eldoret will be be upgraded. Eldoret Polytechnic will be upgraded to a technical university.
