Kenya: Nassir Roots for Televised Debates With His Rivals

A parliamentary aspirant in Mombasa has called for televised debates with his rivals. Abduswamad Sharif Nassir said the debates will enable voters to know the leaders who will address their problems.

Nassir, who is eyeing Mvita parliamentary seat on the ODM ticket, was speaking in Mombasa shortly after presenting his nomination papers to the the electoral commission at Patel Samaj Hall.

"We need live debates here in Mombasa so that people can choose good leaders. This will provide a platform to choose good leaders," said Nassir.

"All aspirants for governor, MP and senator should be put to task on what they want to offer because some have no clear agenda and have just been sponsored to spoil for others."

He said his top agenda is to improve education standards so that youths from the region can "actively and equally compete for job opportunities".
