Egypt: Security Reinforcements Around Cairo Presidential Palace

Security bodies on Friday reinforced security measures around the presidential palace in Cairo in preparation for planned demonstrations expected to head to the palace on the "Friday of Salvation" demonstration, the state news agency reported.

Several parties and political powers had called for the demonstration in order to demand completing the objectives of the January 2011 revolution.

Several marches are currently en route to the palace to demand sacking Prime Minister Hisham Kandil's cabinet, forming a national salvation government, forming a committee to amend disputed articles in the constitution, and dismissing chief prosecutor general.

Demands of the protesters also include forming a judicial committee to investigate the recent killings of protesters and holding those responsible accountable as well as ending the state of emergency imposed on three Suez Canal governorates.
