Angola: Culture Minister Envisages Good Carnival

Luanda — The Culture minister, Rosa Cruz e Silva, on Thursday in Luanda said that she envisages a successful holding of the 2013 edition of the carnival, since she has seen a commitment from the organising committe and the cultural organisations.

Rosa Cruz e Silva made this statement to the press on the fringe of a gala that served to pay homage to the carnival group Jovem do Mukuaxi.

"Every year, at the organisational level, we try to make things better and in this edition it will not be different, so that we can dignify our culture even more", said the source.

She went on saying that "This homage paid today to the Jovem do Mukuaxi carnival group is the first move aiming for a positive result of the main parade".

She also appealed for greater engagement of all the groups that will participate in the carnival competition.

On Thursday, the Culture Ministry paid homage to the carnival groups União Jovens do Mukuaxi, from Luanda Province, and Torre do Tombo, from Namibe Province, for their contribution to the enrichment of Angola's carnival.

The ceremony was attended by the minister of State and head of the President's Civil Office, Edeltrudes Costa, who represented the Vice President, Manuel Vicente.
