Luanda — A cooperation agreement for 2013/2017 was signed Friday by the Ministry of Environment and UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
The rotocol was signed by the incumbent minister, Fátima Jardim, in representation of Environment Ministry, while director general of organisation, the Brazilian José Graziano da Silva signed for FAO.
Speaking to the press, José Graziano da Silva said the agreement is confined in three key areas.
The official mentioned the productivity and food production by small farmers, the sustainable management of natural resources and building resilience for the rural population in order to withstand the impacts of natural disasters.
In her turn, the minister of Environment, Fátima Jardim, stressed that cooperation will enable seeking experienced technicians and experts from FAO, for being an institution dealing with the food self-sufficiency.
She said that the Environment Ministry will coordinate the programme that covers also the Ministry of Agriculture.
