Nigeria: Maku Tasks LG's On Infrastructure

Ebonyi — Local government administrations have been tasked to embark on developmental projects that will improve the lives of people at the grassroots.

Information Minister Labaran Maku made the call when he led the National Good Governance Tour team on an inspection of a road project by Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The minister said Nigeria cannot develop unless local government administrations become more proactive on developmental issues.

The team also inspected the Ebonyi integrated water treatment plant which is at 70 per cent completion stage.

Project Manager, Cohen Raffy, said the project will be linked to 13 Local Government Areas when completed in July.

Other projects visited include the Federal Polytechnic, Unwana, Ossa-Edda rice processing centre and the Girls Technical College in Agba. It is the first technical college for girls in Nigeria.
